Recess Coffee Shop is a small independent cafe near the River Can, just off Chelmsford High Street.

Recess is a friendly coffee shop with a good selection of cold snacks, toasted sandwiches and cakes. The coffee is always good too. It has a few seats outside which provide a quiet place to relax by the river, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
